Strike Action at Felixstowe
Further strike action at the Port of Felixstowe is being planned from 07:00am on 27.09.2022 until 06:59am on 05.10.2022.Provisions are being put in place by the port, which is likely to remove all Vehicle Booking Slots (VBS) whilst the strikes persist, similar to arrangements put in place during strike action last month. This would result in hauliers having no direct access to collect containers from the port.Carriers are advising that they currently do not intend to mitigate or alleviate charges that may occur due to the strike action and, as such, these will remain for the account of the importer.Neptune is continuing to liaise with carriers to work on contingencies and to understand their strategies. The situation is still developing and we will ensure you are kept up to date on any impact these strikes may have to your shipments, along with the advance notice of possible delays and costs.Workers at the Port of Liverpool are already set to strike from 19.09.2022 until 03.10.2022 following an August vote that was 99% in favour of industrial action.Useful Links:https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-62886600https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/uks-felixstowe-port-faces-eight-day-strike-2022-09-13/https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/business/second-wave-of-strikes-at-port-of-felixstowe-9269334
