National Day Golden WeekHeld annually on 1st October, Chinese National Day celebrates the formation of the People’s Republic of China. The 7-day holiday from 1st to 7th October is called ‘Golden Week’, during which many Chinese citizens travel or have family time as large numbers of factories shut down over this period. These festivities could result in vessel omissions and restricted space in the run up to Golden Week.Golden Week traditionally marks the start of a rush for bookings in the run up to Christmas period, as companies look to ensure stock is received ahead of this time.Rate hikes can also be implemented by carriers due to this holiday and the resulting increased demand for space aboard vessels sailing from the Far East over the next several months.Furthermore, Chinese New Year falls on 22nd January 2023 with many factory closures occurring into February 2023, so if you wish to ship orders before this date or Christmas 2022 then please ensure advance notice is provided to us as soon as possible, to ensure bookings are secured on the earliest available vessels.Should you have any questions or queries about how this holiday may impact upon your consignments please do not hesitate to contact us. |
