Malaysia Lockdown

The Malaysian Government has announced a total lock down to take effect from 01.06.2021 in an attempt to limit the recent surge in covid cases. As a result of this only essential businesses will be allowed to operate and a ‘Full Movement Control Order (FMCO)’ will be in place limiting people to within a 10Km Radius from their homes. These restrictions could impact on scheduled shipments connecting with vessels as factories may be unable to open and transport goods to the port.We would recommend contacting any suppliers based in Malaysia to confirm if they will be able to operate under these new restitutions and, if you have any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact us.As the situation develops we will ensure any clients who import goods from Malaysia are kept up to date.Useful Links:https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/people-prepare-for-a-tough-time-during-lockdown-in-malaysiahttps://www.argusmedia.com/en/news/2220113-malaysia-imposes-total-lockdown-as-covid19-cases-surgehttps://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/malaysia-to-shutter-malls-most-factories-under-two-week-lockdown-starting-june-1
