Gridlock at the port of Santos
Gridlock at the port of SantosRecord traffic gridlocks are currently being experienced at the port of Santos, hindering access for container trucks. This is down due to an all-time record harvest of grain causing silos to fill up. The excess is being loaded into large bulk carriers and transported to the port for export to other countries.Operations in terminals situated in Santos port’s left bank have been affected the worst, this being the location where the grain products are taken. Congestion at both the portside and landside is not easing.Local authorities and the terminal operators are addressing the situation but an overall solution is still a long way off being reached. Because of this, additional measures such as the use of alternate ports may be employed but this would be on a case per case basis. Please contact your normal operator if you require any further information.
