Congestion at Italian Rail Terminals

An influx of consignments being placed following the Italian shutdown last month has resulted in congestion throughout the majority of Northern Italy’s rail terminals.

This is expected to have an impact on transit times which are likely to become extended with containers being gated in at the terminal for 3 to 4 days or longer before being railed.

Our carriers are putting pressure on the rail companies to increase train capacity however this will not provide an immediate solution as the rail operators are not yet fully operational following the summer shutdown.

We will endeavour to keep any delays to a minimum as always and will keep you fully informed should your consignments be directly affected.
